The Passion Flower (Passiflora)

I am SO glad that I got my first blooms of the Passion Flower came out this morning -- just in time for Easter!  This is one of my most favorite flowers of all.

The Passion Flower (or Passiflora) is the plant from which the Passion Fruit is born.  It is called the "Passion" flower because it is refering to the passion of Jesus.   Here is a quote from Wikipedia:  "Spanish Christian missionaries adopted the unique physical structures of this plant, particularly the numbers of its various flower parts, as symbols of the last days of Jesus and especially his crucifixion."

Enjoy the views I have posted of these beautiful flowers!
